VAI performed topographic survey, conducted sediment testing, prepared site plans and provided permitting support services to the City of Gloucester on this restoration project which involves the removal of a old concrete pool and its associated fill from the intertidal zone, thereby restoring tidal flow to the area and improving intertidal shellfish habitat.  After removal of the pool and fill, a portion of the intertidal area will also be planted with salt marsh vegetation.  A salt panne was also included as part of the restoration design.  Invasive species will be removed from the upland portions of the site and replaced with native species.  This project involved many partner agencies, including the Massachusetts Wetland Restoration Program, National Marine Fisheries Service, MA Division of Marine Fisheries and others. This project was part of a greater Annisquam River Restoration Project for which VAI prepared a successful $50,000 grant application for the City of Gloucester
