VAI was retained by the Town of Winthrop to provide preliminary studies, design, permitting, and construction services for the proposed mixed use and ferry terminal at the Town Landing. Development of the facility will improve public access to the waterfront and use of the harbor, together with providing opportunities for enhancement of the adjacent commercial district and surrounding residential neighborhoods. The $2.7 million project is designed to be a shared-use facility, accommodating the commercial fishing fleet, transient vessels, charter boats for fishing or touring and the Harbormaster vessel. The existing site is a public boat ramp facility at the Town Landing. Improvements include a new pile-supported pier with attached floating docks, a new building to house the Harbormaster’s office, with public restrooms and upgrading of utilities, parking and landscaping. The existing parking lot will be modified, re-surfaced, re-striped and landscaped. Currently the new Town Pier with utilities is under construction.
