Vine Associates, Inc. provided planning, design, and construction monitoring of the City demonstration ferry service in 1999 and the curren service established in 2006 at the Blaney Street Site in Salem, MA The projects were funded by the state Executive Office of Transportation, with new steel floats to provide handicap accessibility for ferry.
Both projects were fast track projects that required design, permitting and construction services to be provided in an expeditious manner to assure seasonal operations. Variable subsurface conditions consisting of dense tills and shallow bedrock were evaluated for deflection and horizontal capacity for high energy wind and wave climate at the site.
